Samedi a été historique. La cérémonie au pied du Mont-Royal a permis à près d'une centaine de personnes de se recueillir autour des aînés anishinabes, mayas, mohawks, haïtiens, métis et de toutes les nations, pour se remémorer l'importance viscérale de la forêt. Une impressionnante marche jusqu'à la salle de spectacle le Club Lambi, lampion à la main, a ensuite rempli l'endroit en quelques minutes, et ce pour toute la soirée. Celle-ci fut forte en émotions. Les discours unificateurs, le dynamisme des artistes de la scène urbaine et la sensibilité des artistes autochtones traditionnels ont su réellement faire de Nopimik une spectaculaire rencontre sur tous les plans.
Avant la cérémonie, une manifestation théâtrale et colorée s'est rassemblée devant les bureaux de PF Résolu. Les participants y jouaient le rôle des esprits de la forêt, qui ont annoncé s'inviter chez la ministre des Ressources naturelles Martine Ouellet pour les fêtes. En effet, vu l'urgence d'agir et l'impasse au niveau juridique, nous tentons d'obtenir
une rencontre avec la ministre avant la période des fêtes.
Toutefois, ces efforts ne pourront porter fruit qu'avec un appui clair
de la population. Nous vous invitons donc, si ce n'est déjà fait, à signer notre pétition demandant un arrêt des coupes et à rester à l'affût de nous prochaines actions. Nous vous invitons aussi, cela va de soi, à continuer de passer le mot sur la situation à Poigan. Rappelons que 60% de la forêt sera coupée d'ici mars prochain si rien n'est fait rapidement.

Saturday has been historical. The ceremony at the foot of Mount Royal allowed near one hundred persons to gather around elders of all nations including Anishinabe, Mayan, Mohawk, Haïtian and Metis, to reflect on the visceral importance of the forest. Then, an impressive walk down to the Club Lambi concert hall, lantern in hand, filled the place in just a few minutes and for all the duration of the show. The evening was particularly emotional. The unifying speeches, the dynamism of modern urban artists and the sensibility of traditional native artists made Nopimik an amazing encounter in every way.
Before the ceremony, a colorful theatrical protest was held in front of Resolute offices. Participants played the role of forest spirits, who announced their intention to visit Natural Resources minister Martine Ouellet for the holidays. Indeed, with the emergency before us and the length of the legal process, we're attempting to obtain a meeting with the Mrs. Ouellet before the holidays period. However, for this to be succesful, we need a clear support from the public. Thus, we invite you to sign our petition asking for a stop on the logging and to stay alert for our next actions. We also invite you, it goes without saying, to continue spreading the word on the situation at Poigan. It's worth reminding that 60% of the forest will be cut come March 2013 if nothing is done soon.
